This classification is done by the largest particle size they can manage. For example, sump pump can handle small solids. The largest particle size an effluent pump will handle is about 0.5 inch in diameter. Air conditioners and refrigerators are prime examples of heat pumps. The task of a heat pump is to heat or cool a house depending on the season. The device takes advantage of the relationship between pressure and temperature in a gas. Heat pump is not a new concept. The concept of heat pumps was introduced way back in 1852. In 1927, the first practical model was introduced. Heat pump was introduced to the American market in the 1950s. Today millions of heat pumps are in use all across the world, successfully heating homes even in the coldest climates.Nowadays, electric heat pumps are also available for home heating and cooling needs in desert climate mainly.

Types of Heat Pumps:

Gas Compression Heat Pumps

Phase Change Heat Pumps

Thermoelectric Heat Pumps that use the Peltier effect

Geothermal Exchange Heat Pumps

Vortex Tubes

Features and Uses of Heat Pumps:

Heat pumps are extremely efficient in their use of energy.

A heat pump contains a valve that lets it switch between "air conditioner" and "heater." When the valve is switched one way, the heat pump acts like an air conditioner, and when it is switched the other way, it acts like a heater.

A heat pump is a year-round comfort conditioning system that uses refrigeration equipment to supply warm air in winter and cool air in summer.

A heat pump is growing in popularity because high energy costs and possibility of future fuel shortages have led house owners to seek ways to reduce their heating and cooling costs. A sump pit, commonly found in the home basement, is simply a hole to collect water. The water may enter via the perimeter drains of a basement waterproofing system, funneling into the pit, or may arrive because of rain or because of natural ground water, if the basement is below the water table level.

In some cases, a sump pump is used when a lower floor is below the municipal sewer lines, to pump greywater or blackwater waste from that floor to the sewer lines.

sump pumps are installed particularly where basement flooding is seen as a problem, but are also used to ameliorate dampness where the water table is normally above the foundation of a home. sump pumps send water away from a house to any place where it no longer presents a problem, such as a municipal storm drain or a dry well. Older properties may have their sump pumps connected to the sanitary sewer, but this is frowned upon now (and may be against the plumbing code) because it can overwhelm the municipal sewage treatment system. sump pumps are usually hardwired into a home's electrical system, and may have a battery backup. Some even use the home's pressurized water supply to power the pump, eliminating the need for electricity. Since a sump pit may overflow if not constantly pumped, a backup system is important for cases when the main power is out for prolonged periods of time.

There are generally two types of sump pumps: pedestal and submersible. The pedestal pump's motor is mounted above the pit, where it is more easily serviced but also more conspicuous. The submersible pump is entirely mounted inside the pit, and is specially sealed to prevent electrical short circuits

Copyright © 2008

继续阅读《Sump pump》的全文内容...

相关文章:

Boiler Feedwater Pumps (2008-12-23 20:7:35)

Bicycle Pumps (2008-12-23 20:2:5)

Bladder Pump (2008-12-23 19:55:42)

How a Centrifugal Pumps Work? (2008-12-23 19:2:57)

<trackback:ping>http://blog.yagemotor.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=40&key=590fee24</trackback:ping>

Types of Pumps

A wide variety of pumps are available in the market. In fluid systems, pumps are used to keep the fluid moving in a very useful way. When fluids move, they are frequently required to move upwards through the pipes. The pumps provide enough push to keep the fluid going upwards. Also, while fluids go through pipes, they encounter friction, like anything else. Pumps help to overcome this friction loss to keep everything moving.

Pumps are widely used in variety of applications starting from homes to offices to school/colleges/hospitals/ to commercial complexes to industrial applications to aerospace. The list is endless. We can say that wherever one finds liquids in pipes or tubes, a pump is probably nearby. Pumps can be found in refrigerators, air conditioners, power plants, cars, ships, and airplanes, just to name a few. Human civilization as it is known today would not exist without pumps.

Applications of pumps can be classified as follows :

Industrial Application

Residential Application

Commercial Application

Other Application

Copyright © 2008

继续阅读《Uses and Applications of Pumps》的全文内容...

相关文章:

Pump Parts and Accessories (2009-3-16 22:29:45)

Power Source for Pumps (2009-3-16 22:25:48)

Materials for Construction of Pumps (2009-3-16 22:18:3)

<trackback:ping>http://blog.yagemotor.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=38&key=8b76bd0e</trackback:ping>

Pump Parts and Accessories

There are many components and devices which are used in the construction of pumps. These are various pump parts and accessories. Different pumps have different parts and accessories.

Pump parts and accessories differ by media pumped and application. Pump parts and accessories include hydraulic pump parts and vacuum pump parts. A hydraulic pump part can move the pistons using pressure in a simple hydraulic system. A vacuum pump , on the other hand , can be built using common plumbing parts, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe, valve, clear vinyl hose, and PVC cement.

The various parts and accessories of pumps can be classified as:

Cylinders

Valves

Motor

Bend Element

Side Stream

Inlet Guide Vane

Impeller

Front and Rear Seals

Diffuser

Volute

Compressor

Gears

Shaft

Piston

Blades

Gasket

Hose

Pipe

Pipe Fittings

Belt

Float Switch

Gauges

Nozzle

Pipe Cleaner

Suction

Strainer

Roll Cage Frames

Adaptors

Regulators

Repair Kits etc.

Copyright © 2008

继续阅读《Pump Parts and Accessories》的全文内容...

相关文章:

Types of Pumps (2009-3-16 22:37:5)

Uses and Applications of Pumps (2009-3-16 22:33:50)

Power Source for Pumps (2009-3-16 22:25:48)

Materials for Construction of Pumps (2009-3-16 22:18:3)

Specifications of Pump (2009-3-16 22:15:15)

<trackback:ping>http://blog.yagemotor.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=37&key=3155550a</trackback:ping>

Power Source for Pumps

A pump cannot run on its own. To activate a pump, power is required. The power source of pumps are wide and varied. Some pumps come with in built power while some pumps fulfill the customer's specifications as to which source of power is required. Pumps are offered in a variety of construction materials for dispensing most types of liquids and chemicals. Some common materials used in the construction of pumps are as follows:

Aluminum

Brass

Bronze

Cast Iron

Plastic

Stainless Steel

Aluminum
Aluminum is a silvery and ductile member of the poor metal group of chemical elements. Aluminum is found primarily as the ore bauxite. It is a light trivalent metallic element and has good electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflectivity, and resistance to oxidation. Aluminum is used in many industries to make millions of different products and is very important to the world economy.

Brass
The term used for alloys of copper and zinc in a solid solution is called brass. It is more than 50% copper and from 5 to 20% zinc. Brass comes with good strength. It has excellent high temperature ductility and reasonable cold ductility. Brass has also good conductivity and excellent corrosion resistance. Since it also has good bearing properties and low magnetic permeability, it is a ideal material for construction of pumps.

Bronze
The term used for alloys of copper and tin is called Bronze. Sometimes, bronze is also found with other elements such as phosphorus, manganese, aluminum, or silicon. It is strong and tough, and has wide range of uses in industry. Some types of brasses are also called bronzes. Sintered bronze is a porous material, which can be impregnated with oil, graphite or PTFE. It is not suitable for heavily loaded applications but is of great use where lubrication is inconvenient.

Cast Iron
There are various types of cast irons which are widely used in industry, especially for valves, pumps, pipes, filters and certain mechanical parts. Cast iron can be considered as an alloy of iron, silicon and carbon. Cast irons are natural composite materials whose properties are determined by their micro structures, that is, the stable and metastable phases formed during solidification or subsequent heat treatment. Cast irons have improved (corrosion) resistance and substantially modified mechanical and physical properties. Various types of cast irons used in the construction of pumps are:

Gray Cast Iron

White Cast Iron

Chilled Iron (duplex)

Malleable Cast Irons

Ductile Or Nodular Cast Irons

Plastic
Plastic includes a range of synthetic or semi-synthetic polymerization products. It is composed of organic condensation or addition polymers and other substances to improve performance or economics. It is capable of being molded, extruded, cast into various shapes and films, or drawn into filaments used as textile fibers. It is malleable, having the property of plasticity. It is designed with immense variation in properties such as heat tolerance, hardness, resiliency and many others. Combined with this adaptability, the general uniformity of composition and light weight of plastic ensures its use in almost all industrial segments.

Stainless Steel
Another material of construction of pumps is stainless steel. Stainless steel is chemical and corrosion resistant and can have relatively high pressure ratings.

Copyright © 2008

继续阅读《Materials for Construction of Pumps》的全文内容...

相关文章:

Uses and Applications of Pumps (2009-3-16 22:33:50)

Pump Parts and Accessories (2009-3-16 22:29:45)

<trackback:ping>http://blog.yagemotor.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=35&key=10b5fe6c</trackback:ping>

Specifications of Pump

There are various features of pumps which are to considered before buying a pump for any industrial, commercial or residential applications. All the sliding and rotating parts are isolated from the pumped fluid.

Self-priming :Priming means to introduce fluid into the pumping chamber to create the pressure difference to begin pumping at rated service. Self-priming feature helps the pump to create and maintain a sufficient vacuum level to draw fluid into the inlet with no external assistance.

Strainer/Filter : Pump has a strainer or filter to collect solids before they pass through the pump.

Thermal Overload Protection : This is a device to shut off the pump in the event the motor becomes too hot.

Top Suction : With this feature the pump is capable of drawing fluid from the top of a tank rather than from the bottom of a reservoir.

Vertical Orientation :Pump stator and rotor assembly is vertically upright. Media is pumped vertically through the pump.

Washdown Duty : This feature enables the water pumps to perform better in wet environments including food processing plants and dairies as well as other high humidity areas.

Copyright © 2008

继续阅读《Specifications of Pump》的全文内容...

相关文章:

Types of Pumps (2009-3-16 22:37:5)

Pump Parts and Accessories (2009-3-16 22:29:45)

Power Source for Pumps (2009-3-16 22:25:48)

<trackback:ping>http://blog.yagemotor.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=34&key=a08f0cfe</trackback:ping>

Momentum Transfer Pump

Momentum transfer pump is also known as molecular pumps. It uses high speed jets of dense fluid or high speed rotating blades which knock gaseous molecules out of the chamber.

How does a Momentum Transfer Pump works?
In a momentum transfer pump, gas molecules are accelerated from the vacuum side to the exhaust side. Based on the laws of fluid dynamics, matter flows differently at different pressures. At atmospheric pressure and mild vacuums, molecules interact with each other and push on their neighboring molecules. When the distance between the molecules increases, the molecules interact with the walls of the chamber more than the other molecules, and thus molecular pumping becomes more effective than positive displacement pumping.

Types of Momentum Transfer Pumps:
There are two main types of molecular pumps. Both types of pumps blow out gas molecules that are diffused into the pump.

Diffusion pump : Diffusion pumps blow out molecules with jets of oil.

Turbomolecular pump :Turbomolecular pumps use high speed fans.

Copyright © 2008

继续阅读《Momentum Transfer Pump》的全文内容...

相关文章:

Hand Pump and Foot Pump (2009-2-18 2:19:4)

Piston Pump (2009-2-18 2:18:0)

vane-pump (2009-2-18 2:17:5)

Chemical Pump (2009-2-18 2:1:42)

Double-diaphragm Pump (2009-2-18 2:0:34)

<trackback:ping>http://blog.yagemotor.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=31&key=6f3a0e24</trackback:ping>
